The Biotechnology Institute of Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST) was established in 1980 as an independent body. Having biotechnology pilot plant, microalgae pilot and bio-mulch pilot, research activities of the Institute of Biotechnology are conducted and supervised by faculty members, while research-based postgraduate students are engaged in hands on experiments. The main advantage of the Institute of Biotechnology is placed on the intrinsic interests of IROST on working on those projects which are regarded as potentially appropriate for transfer of technology.
